The morning had that typical Sunday feeling. We got up just before 8 and headed to the local market. The shopkeeper there basically runs an entire butcher shop inside the store. We picked up breakfast – baguettes, of course, because they’re absolutely delicious. We ate, boiled some water for coffee, and slowly got ready. By half past eight, we were already on our way.
Along the road, we started wondering why anyone would build a magnesium factory in such a tiny village.
The landscape was like something out of a fairytale – charming little towns followed one after another along the Arga River. There was moss and lichen on the branches, and it felt like a forest gnome might peek out at any moment.
The trail itself varied from muddy paths to soft forest trails and rocky tracks. We didn’t complain – the weather was kind to us and we didn’t need to bother with ponchos.
A quick break for coffee and a beer – both are necessary! Then we continued along winding paths. Everything is blooming here – cherries, apples just budding, rosemary, and a mysterious forest flower we’ll share with you below.
In one of the villages, we took a break under a blossoming cherry tree, aired out our feet, shoes, and socks, and rummaged through our bags for a snack. Then we powered through the final stretch toward Pamplona.
There, a lovely albergue awaited us, with friendly hosts – volunteers from Germany. We had been craving soup all day, and finally, in Pamplona, we got it – a delicious fish soup. The price didn’t matter – especially not on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
We took a quick look at the bullfighting arena and the monument to Hemingway, and then headed back to our accommodation. Tomorrow, we walk again.
Now, just a quick blog update, we’re showered and ready for bed.
Good night to everyone in Slovenia, and thank you for walking with us in spirit.

Buen Camino!
