Today we got up at 2 am, had a snack, then a coffee – and were already on our way to the airport in Venice. A cappuccino (optional) and then check-in and boarding the plane. We passed the time by sleeping, and in our waking moments by observing the landscape we were flying over.
At 9 o’clock we were already in Bordeaux.
A friendly lady from the airport service advised us to take the bus to the main train station. We followed her advice and were at the station in half an hour. A special challenge: buying a ticket. Of course, a friendly girl (from Bulgaria) helped us, and we managed.
We eat homemade sandwiches. Just what we needed
Then by train to Bayonne and on by mini-train. Despite the sour weather, Saint-Jean is crowded. We walk around the town, looking for and finding a shop. Despite the crowds, we find a place to stay. Then we go to dinner, and after that we walk around the town a bit. We also take pictures on the famous bridge in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port.
We hear Slovenian speech and meet a Slovenian who is also from Slovenj Gradec. We have a drink together and wish for a Buen Camino. He brightened up the start of the journey for us.
Have a great time – we’re hitting the slopes tomorrow.

This was our first day of the journey – full of impressions, people and small miracles.
Tomorrow it really starts.
I am happy to share with you glimpses from the journey.
